The Oceans project at the Institut Palamós (Spain)

We've just closed the first ediciont of the Oceans project with 15 participating schools and 670 alumnes from Spain and Italy. Now we are very happy to present the Institut Palamós' experience applying Oceans. This has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the School and to the follow-up done by the Departament d'Ensenyament (Education Department) of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia (Spain), who has produced the videos attached.

The first video gives an overview of what's the Oceans project about and in the section Educational Insights, you'll find the opinion of students, teachers and parents! These reports include the activities, teachers, subjects and the added contents that the Institut Palamós has gone in depth (i.e.: usage of chlorhidric acid, visit to the Fishing Museum of Palamós, knowledge of the fishing gear...).

We would like to underline that this has been the experience of the Institut Palamós, but in most cases it has been one single teacher, at his subject, that has taken all the responsability of the Project with excellent results. However we've thought that it would be enriching to let you see other possibilities. Also the School does not need to have a lab, all the experiments suggested are done from recycled materials and can be done at the classroom.

We also want to take the opportunity to remind that Oceans only requires the minimum data to share that will allow for a quick and clear comparison of different features of the marine environment from different parts of the world. The final objective is that starting from local data student reach a global understanding of the planet.
